A contract has not been signed with Holly because of the need to do repairs to the building. As the Society may take over a portion of the building, Holly has been renting on a month to month basis. Pat Lewis reported on the progress being made to assess the work needed on the Vestal building. Ron Hackley had made recommendations and Sam Russell had also surveyed the project. CeCe Morgan, Mark Fulks, and Karen Findley met with Clay Barton to inquire about a possible need to provide insurance that would cover workers making repairs in the Vestal building.
Pat Lewis mentioned that we needed to work diligently to acquire new members. We needed to provide an inexpensive way to get seniors and youth for future memberships. As a quorum wasn’t present, no action was taken.
CeCe Morgan stated that the real estate taxes on the Vestal Building were higher than had been quoted to the Oak Grove Historical Society. We need to increase Barbara Griffith’s payment to compensate for the increase. When the Society takes possession of a portion of the building, we will need the assessor to check the area and adjust the real estate taxes as we are a non-profit organization. Mark Fulks has been working on a grant to help with remodeling expenses.
Income tax needs to be filed by May 15. A certain form is necessary for filing. CeCe Morgan stated that those donating to the Auction needed to contact her for information needed for the tax deductible status.
